Kim: Presidential message
organoid-2021-1-e1i1.jpg
Colleagues and friends from all around the world,
It is my honor to introduce the inaugural issue of Organoid, the Organoid Society's very own international journal. This year, the Organoid Society marked the milestone of having more than 1,000 regular members and another 1,000 student members. The publication of a new journal, as a celebration of our recent development, is one of our most outstanding achievements. As the president of the Organoid Society, I take tremendous pride in the launch of our journal. The historian Dr. Arnold Toynbee proposed that the history of mankind has developed and unfolded through an endless series of challenges and responses to those challenges. In this spirit, I think that one must engage in a massive amount of creative work to find and create new insights and discoveries. We are faced with the need to continually strive to surmount challenges in the development and application of organoids. Organoid technology draws upon an in-depth understanding of human developmental processes and disease mechanisms to build platforms for verifying the efficacy and safety of new drugs to treat damaged organs. By utilizing organoid technology to develop artificial organs for treatment and regeneration, we will revolutionize industries throughout the world as a global growth engine in the life sciences and biomedical technology development projects. The Organoid Society will support its members’ academic activities, new educational initiatives, and novel technologies, striving to help researchers solidify their positions within the international research community. Members will encourage and support each other. We will work hard to foster a collegial, welcoming environment where members communicate with each other and to provide a space for warmhearted people to meet and discuss relevant issues in a relaxed and open setting.
With these goals in mind, we are launching Organoid as the official journal of the Organoid Society. Under the current circumstances facing the global community, the medical industry needs high-quality research more than ever.
Although our society's history and the number of its members may not match those of other academic societies globally, our interest in organoids will promote the development of society. Our organization is focused on applying organoid techniques and pathophysiological models to improve patient health. The world will recognize us as an outstanding society in the coming days as our new and innovative studies contribute to humankind.
We are at the beginning of a brilliant journey of precision and future medicine. I am pleased to embark upon this journey and would like to express my humble appreciation to the Editorial Board members for their devoted work on behalf of the journal.
Congratulations to the new journal, Organoid. Our journal is young and energetic. I cordially invite innovative researchers to contribute to this high-standard and soon-to-be internationally renowned journal.
